School Interventionist for School Problems
Linda Metcalf PhD is a former middle school teacher, all-level school counselor, licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist in the State of Texas. She received her B.A. in Education from Baylor University, her M.Ed. in School Counseling from Texas Christian University, and her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University. She is a Professor at Texas Wesleyan University.
Linda is a national and international presenter, author of eight books on solution-focused therapy, and is the editor of a new book, Marriage and Family Therapy, A Practice Oriented Approah, that she wrote with 19 graduate students.
She has served as president of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, been a board member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (A.A.M.F.T.), and is Past President of A.A.M.F.T.
She has presented often for the American School Counselor Association, the American Counseling Association, Texas Counseling Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, she has presented around the world in Australia, Japan, Norway, Germany, United Kingdom, Amsterdam, Singapore, Canada and extensively throughout the United States.
She is a Professor at Texas Wesleyan University in the Department of Education, where she is the Director of Graduate Programs. She has recently been awarded the Faculty Excellence in Scholarship Award by the Texas Wesleyan University Board of Trustees and the GEM award, for work on new PhD in MFT program.
Before joining Texas Wesleyan University, Linda was on the faculty and Director of the Clinic in the Family Therapy program at Texas Woman's University in Denton. She was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2006 in the College of Professional Education.
Linda was born in Waco, Texas and graduated from Reicher High School. She attended Baylor University and graduated with a double major in earth science and art. Linda was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity at Baylor.
Linda met Roger Metcalf while they were students at Baylor, and they were married in Waco in 1974. They moved to Arlington, Texas, where Linda taught in the Arlington I.S.D., while Roger attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.
Linda next attended T.C.U. in Fort Worth, and received her M.Ed. in 1986...and then she went on to receive the Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University in Denton in 1993. Linda is currently on the faculty of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth

Linda is still married to Roger after 40 years! Roger is the director of the Tarrant County Medical Examiner District's Human Identification Laboratory and Chief Forensic Odontologist.
Linda and Roger have three wonderful children, Roger Jr., 35, a Baylor and Harvard graduate, a web editor for America's Test Kitchen, Kelli, 34, a T.C.U. graduate, who lives in California, works in Red Bull Media, married to Nick Fishbaugh, who is a manager in entertainment. Ryan, 31, a Baylor graduate and who holds a degree in Interactive Technology from S.M.U, works at Gearbox as a video game technical animator.
One golden retriever, Rex, keeps Roger and Linda company at home in Fort Worth, Texas.
